Scores and feedback for Leatherneck Rye Whiskey

Silver Medal

Score

What did you like?

88

Light fruit on the nose with a slightly green aroma. Palate has all the typical rye spice notes, baking spices with a hint of banana skin. A little prickle as the finish develops.

80

Fantastic nose: there’s a slight herbaceous edge that is balanced with baking spice, caramel. The palate is consistent - this is definitely a rye that would be great introduction to rye for new rye drinkers looking for a young rye.

86

soft, spice, herbs

89

nose has unusual white chocolate notes along with the usual caramel, but with some toasted walnut notes. The flavor is bold herbal notes with hints of vegetal notes.

59

Hints of cinnamon

83

Nose: cinnamon apple cereal Palate: doughy apple fritters with cinnamon Finish: doughy, apply cinnamon cereal

79

This smells like when I blend my different cinnamons together for fun. The heat, sweet, earthiness are all present on the nose and the palate.

72

Very fruity on the palate, with lots of cherry before the spice rolls in. Lack of sweetness is much appreciated,.

70

Agreeable cinnamon fragrance on the nose, true to designated style.

76

Captured the earthy and nasal/mouth pungency of cinnamon. This is not a sweet cinnamon whiskey which has to be explained to the consumer

76

Bold cinnamon bark aroma and underlying whiskey, very vibrant on the palate, long sweet and warming finish from the cinnamon. Not old/stale cinnamon which is appreciated
